Health & Safety Policy

It is the policy of Brickworks to ensure that all its activities are performed in a manner that protects the health and safety of employees, contractors labour hire employees and the general public. Brickworks will establish measureable objectives and targets to regularly evaluate its OHS performance with the aim of ensuring continuous improvement and the elimination of work related illnesses and injuries.

In implementing this OHS Policy Statement, Brickworks will seek to comply with all applicable OHS laws, regulations, standards and codes of practice and requirements to which Brickworks subscribes.

To achieve its OHS objectives, Brickworks will, among other things:

♦ Provide its employees, contractors, labour hire workers and visitors with a health and safe work environment and systems of work;

♦ Appropriate health and safety training to all employees, labour hire workers and contractors;

♦ Monitor and regularly view its OHS systems to ensure that they comply with statutory requirements;

♦ Ensure that all levels of management are held accountable for OHS matters within their responsibility, whilst at the same time recognising that each employee has a duty to ensure their health and safety and that of their fellow employees;

♦ Provide for the implementation of risk management processes to ensure that workplace activities are consistent with the level of OHS risk;

♦ Regularly consult with employees, labour hire workers and contractors to ensure that these people have input into the OHS systems that will impact on their health and safety in the workplace;

♦ Ensure the effective dissemination of OHS information (including information regarding OHS training and updates to OHS systems) to all employees, contractors, labour hire workers and visitors to Brickworks' workplace; and

♦ Ensure that each State and Territory's OHS system is effectively implemented in accordance with this OHS policy.

A healthy and safe work environment is fundamental to Brickwork's successful business operations. Improved health and safe performance will be achieved by management and employees working together to develop safe systems and maintain awareness at the highest level.

All employees, contractors, labour hire workers and visitors should be appropriately familiar with the contents of the Safety and Induction Booklet which provides essential overview of Brickwork's OHS systems.

There is no task that we undertake that is so important that we can't take the time to find a safe way to do it.
